It’s always a bit fascinating when you look at how much actually happens with a pair of shoes in the final part of the finishing, when they are coloured and polished and get their final look. The image above is from Crockett & Jones’ factory in Northamtpon, on shoes where the leather is really dead and the chrome grey edges are still clearly visible. After 10-15 more stations in the finishing room, they will have an awesome luster and amazing color tones.


It is also the same characteristics of the leather that allows them to recover so well even after tough use and poor care. Living materials are nice stuff.
