It’s lovely to see how much can be done just by enhancing things a bit, like the shapes of the last on this seriously amazing bespoke sample made by Patrick Frei and Kazuya Kimura. It’s essentially a regular soft square toe, but with curves and angles carved to perfection.

It’s not only the last shape that is spectacular on this shoe, much more to be blown away off. The tight, perfectly executed contrasting sole stitching, the various sizes of the brogue punching, and the cleverly designed exhibition shoe tree which looks like a very beautiful last. They know their stuff, German Patrick Frei and his new partner, Japanese Kazuya Kimura.
