The nowadays undisputed king of sales periods is here, and more or less everyone runs some sort of campaign in conjunction with Black Friday. As always, Shoegazing is here to highlight some of the best ones, to help you find the best deals and get that pair that you both need and want.
Two weekends ago the first New York Super Trunk Show took place, and what a day it was. About 1,200 shoe and menswear lovers came through the doors and explored the offerings from the 17 exhibitors from around the world, a shoe patina exhibition was held, and the first U.S. shoe shining champs took place. Here’s a summary with loads of photos from the day.
On Saturday October 14 the first edition of the New York Super Trunk Show takes place, organised by The Shoe Snob, Shoegazing and Kirby Allison, with main Platinum sponsors being Saphir and Bridlen Shoemaker. On central Manhattan more than 15 exhibitors from around the world will showcase, we’ll have the first U.S. Championships of shoe shining and shoe patina, and much more. This year we’ll have a Swiss, a Japanese and a Brit in the shoe shining contest, and one from the US and two from France in the patina competition. These are the finalists of the world champs contests taking place during the London Super Trunk Show on May 13. See their submissions here.
On Saturday May 13 it’s back – one of the world’s largest open event on quality shoes, The London Super Trunk Show, organised by Shoegazing and The Shoe Snob. In the middle of London on 12 Regent Street, we gather 11 brands from all over the world, partners exhibit, there will be the World Championships of Shoe Shining and Shoe Patina, plus the World Championships of Shoemaking have its award ceremony and competition shoes displayed, and for the first time we have a second hand shoe marketplace on site.

We now open the qualifications to the finals of the World Championships of Shoe Shining and the World Championships of Shoe Patina 2023, two prestigious contests organised together with Saphir. Finals take place at the London Super Trunk Show on Saturday May 13. The patina finalists will paint their shoes during the whole event, and the shoe shiners have 20 minutes to shine a shoe as lovely looking as they possibly can.
Since I wrote the article on winter sales last week a few other really good sales of quality footwear have started, so to make sure that no one misses these I do a summary of them as well. Several hundreds of pairs in total are up for a bargain here.
The second super trunk show in Amsterdam took place earlier in October, a bunch of great shoe brands and style exhibitors was gathered in the lovely Vondelkerk – which became the church of shoes for one day. It was three years since, but the past weekend it was finally time for the Stockholm edition of the super trunk shows again. Six shoe companies and three partners exhibited, lots of shoe shining happenings including the Swedish champs, second hand marketplace and much more. Here’s a summary of the day with loads of photos.

Also featuring, among other things, Swedish Championships of Shoe Shining, spit shine shine workshop, free shoe shine service and of course Shoegazing Market – the second hand marketplace for selling and buying quality second hand shoes.
