The British bespoke shoemaker Foster & Son is famous four their sun bleeched shoes. What started with sample shoes that had been standing in the shop window for decades and been bleeched which customers asking to buy similar shoes, has become a signum for the brand since they also started doing it in an artificial way. The shoes pictured above have all been naturally bleeched by the sun though.
The shoe in the middle is over 70 years old, and the black leather has become almost white in some areas after having been exposed to sun year after year. When Foster & Son bleech the shoes themselves they do it with a relatively gentle method even though it bleeches the aniline dye.
