One of the main players of second hand welted footwear in Europe, Abbot’s Shoes from the UK, has introduced their Archive Sale section. Here all shoes that’s been with them for over a year will end up, with a 10% discount on the previous pricing. Hundreds of shoes are part now, and new will be added weekly.

Time to highlight a bunch of quality sneakers – both coming from traditional brands and sole sneakers brands. No news that there is a wide range of choices available nowadays, and not only the minimalistic Common Projects version but lots of different sneaker styles. Here’s some good choices.
If you’ve been interested in getting a pair of really nice handmade shoes in alligator leather, but been hesitating due to the often hefty price tag of these, now might be your chance. The Italian maker Calzoleria Carlino offers their fully handmade MTO, remote bespoke or full bespoke made in alligator leather, to the same price as calf leather.
Summer sale season is on, and every day now we get announcements from brands and retailers about sales starting. Here I gather a few interesting ones where you can browse around to make a good bargain.
The online giant Mr. Porter started their SS23 sale today, with up to 50% off loads of products, including a bunch of great shoes from various brands. Get your hands on stuff from for example Edward Green, John Lobb Paris, Tricker’s, JM Weston and others at a steep discount.

For bespoke shoemakers or aspiring ones, there’s a constant hunt for good tools. The fact that many of the best quality ones were made decades ago makes this even more difficult. Luckily, there’s a few good places to turn to, one of them is the online shop Shoemaker’s Toolmakers which sell vintage tools and shoemaking materials.
The next European bespoke shoemaker to launch a RTW collection is Mogada from Germany, the brand of Gaziano & Girling alumni Louis Lampertsdörfer. Premium hand welted very sleek classics that are just perfect on the eye.
Ichigo Ichie Shoemaker has set up its own team in Vietnam to produce a range of fully handmade RTW shoes, which now initially are offered at the impressive price tag of €470. A nice opportunity for those who want try something made a different way to regular factory-made Goodyear welted shoes.
In England you’ll find many more interesting bespoke shoemakers than just the usual suspects. In this article I highlight three of them: Efe Laborde, Sebastian Tarek and Tony Slinger. Also briefly about an article in the world’s largest financial newspaper, Nikkei, about the Japanese success in last year’s shoemaking world championships.
Since I wrote the article on winter sales last week a few other really good sales of quality footwear have started, so to make sure that no one misses these I do a summary of them as well. Several hundreds of pairs in total are up for a bargain here.
