A week ago the first edition of the Isetan Shoes Expo 2019 took place – a real shoe bonanza with all things men’s shoes. Apart from the two sessions I worked with them on – a talk about the World Championships in Shoemaking with the top trio, and the Shoe Shining Champion of Champions contest – loads of exhibitions and happenings took place. Here’s a summary.
Tomorrow Saturday is the time for the big shoe competition Shoe Shining Champion of Champions at Isetan in Tokyo, where the three world champions and a Russian, Japanese and our latest Swedish champion Michael Håkansson will make up. An event that can be viewed live on YouTube, more info below.
Of course we’ll have a super trunk in Stockholm, Sweden, this autumn, on Saturday September 29 the sixth edition will take place. A lot of new stuff on the exhibition floor this year, CNES Shoemaker, Sons of Henrey, Zeb Shoes and Skomaker Dagestad with among others Miyagi Kogyo and Foster & Son RTW, plus the old fox Skolyx (Skolyx/Yanko/TLB Mallorca) and Gaziano & Girling. Also the Swedish Championships in Shoe Shining, a mini course on how to recolour shoes, shoe patina painting live, and the return of last year’s success Shoegazing Market – a second hand marketplace where you can sell and buy used shoes.
On the 11-16th of September the famous department store Isetan Men’s in Tokyo are hosting the first Shoe Expo, with lots of shoe happenings during several days. I’m pleased to have worked together with them on three parts, the premiere of the Shoe Shining Champions of Champions contest, where the three world champions and one Japanese champion, Swedish champion and Russian champion will battle it out in a huge competition, a seminar with the top trio in the World Championships in Shoemaking, and an exhibition with their shoes plus the world champs patina winner.
This past Saturday the Moscow Trunk Show took place, I was there exhibiting with Skolyx and as a member of the jury in the Russian shoe shining and patina contests. A great day with lots of great shoes and great contestants achieving amazing results. Here’s a summary of the event in a bunch of pictures.

This Saturday April 20 the first Moscow Trunk Show takes place. Similar to the super trunk shows I organise, a large number of exhibitors are gathered, and the russian shoe shining and shoe patina contest Shoesing Awards takes place.
Last Saturday the third edition of the London super trunk took place, the world’s largest open event for classic men’s shoes. A huge success with new visitor record, around 1,000 people came into the doors throughout the day, to look and buy from the ten exhibitors, partners and follow the World Championships in shoe shining, shoe patina and shoemaking.
In this post we will live stream the two sessions at the stage area during today’s big event, at 15.00 GMT is the final of the World Championships in Shoe Shining, and at 17.30 GMT it’s award ceremonies for first the World Championships in Shoe Patina, and then Shoemaking.
This Saturday is the day. The third edition of the London Super Trunk Show, held in the heart of London in 12 Regent Street, gathering more than ten awesome exhibitors and hosting the World Championships in shoemaking, shoe shining and shoe patina. Here’s some practical info ahead of the event, for those who plan to visit, and on the livestreaming we will do for those who can’t attend.
