A. Marchesan is Scandinavia’s most renowned vintage menswear store, and after a long time in the making they now finally launched their online store, making their impressively well curated selection of vintage goods available worldwide. A bunch of great vintage shoes are part of the inventory.
A. Marchesan is a vintage menswear store in Stockholm that is a given meeting place for vintage clothing enthusiasts in Sweden. It was founded by vintage clothes collector Alexander Marchesan, first as a pop-up shop in a couple of different locations between 2008-2011, and then with a permanent store back in 2012. The store focus on men’s clothes, shoes and accessories from the early 1900’s through the 1950’s, and they are famous for the overall excellent level of their offerings.
When A. Marchesan do something, they do it properly, even if it often takes a lot of time. When they were to move to a new larger store, they carefully renovated the premises during a long period of time, but now when you enter it it’s like stepping in to a time machine and being taken back 70 years in time. Totally worth it, in other words. The same goes for their website, which has been “coming soon” for years. Now when it’s here, it’s of course great.
Boots made for the Swedish army in the 1940’s, never worn, available at just above €300 which is a great price.
The webshop opened up yesterday, it’s lovely looking and very informative. and even if they don’t have all their stuff uploaded on it (yet at least) a lot of great pieces can be found. When it comes to footwear, a majority of what they have online now is old Swedish men’s shoes, and many of it is New Old Stock, never used. In the early 1900’s there were hundreds of shoe factories in Sweden, mainly in Örebro and Kumla, and the quality was considered excellent. I know they have much more shoes than the ones online now, also from the UK, US and other countries, hopefully they’ll continue to add pairs to the online inventory.
