Buying tip – Efe Laborde launches MTO offering

The British-based bespoke shoemaker William Efe Laborde now introduces a Made to Order service, with shoes made to exactly the same standard as his full bespoke, but on standard lasts available in two different toe shapes and in four widths. Initially an oxford and a derby are available as base models, and the leather options are spectacular, with among other things several vintage Freudenberg leathers.

News – Arterton opens store in London

Arterton has sniffed on physical presence before, with trunk show’s, pop-ups etc, but now they’ve opened up a permanent location in an excellent spot in the Princes Arcade, just next to Fortnum & Mason in the heart of London. Here they have a lounge section and sell shoes from Bridlen and Yearn, shoe care from Paul Brunngård, hangers from Nakata, and more.

The world’s largest shoe care brand, Kiwi, looks to be discontinued. According to several sources with insight, the multinational corporation SC Johnson will stop producing Kiwi products. Last year the fact that SCJ removed Kiwi from the UK market due to decreased sales made big headlines. Now, it appears that global sales are not good enough for the shoe care brand to have a future, at least not under SC Johnson ownership.

A shoemaker that perhaps wasn’t the most famous name for a wider audience, but highly respected among shoemakers and shoe aficionados around the world.

Yesterday the Italian shoemaker and factory manager Enzo Bonafè passed away, 88 years old. The man behind one of the most acclaimed brands in the Italian quality men’s shoe industry, who worked together with his family in their factory in Bologna until just recently, which he started 60 years ago.
