Baudoin & Lange, famous for their premium Belgian loafers, has for the first time introduced a small range of boot models. Blake stitched in Italy, nicely designed where especially the high quality upper leathers stands out.
One have to admire what the British brand Baudoin & Lange has achieved. In five years they’ve carved out a niche with their high-end soft unlined Belgian loafers, and managed to establish themselves in the luxury segment here. Still of course a small brand, but they have one store of their own in Burlington Arcade in London and recently opened a second one in central Paris. They are sold at Harrod’s and Selfridges and at retailers in the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Melbourne and so on. Main customers aren’t shoe nerds, but those who shop in the luxury boutiques, and to enter this segment as a new shoe brand is certainly not easy.
Most of B&L’s shoes are cemented loafers, well-made but with basic constructions, then they have a few Blake stitched loafers in what they call The Grand Collection. Certainly not something that impresses at the prices from €350 and up that one find their shoes at. But their strong part is the designs and especially the leathers – really exclusive and fine babycalf, super soft reverse calf suede and so on. Now for the first time they have branched out from loafers and introduced three boot models in a few different leather options, part of the Blake stitched Grand collection. One chelsea boot, one jodhpur, and one more special designed boot with combined buckle and elastic closing. The boots looks really nice, are likely rather soft and certainly designed for city life and not hitting the woods. The boots cost from €650.

I’m a big fan of these guys – I had a pair of Belgian loafers and asked them for a colour and leather combination they didn’t stock; they gladly obliged even though they didn’t have to. I will certainly order a pair of jodhpurs from them.
Edward: Good to hear! Yeah the jodphurs looks great.
