A summary of some ongoing winter sales where you can find fine footwear, not least a bunch of boots, at discounted prices. If you’ve been on the hunt for something specific, now can be the time to take the plunge at a bargain.
Cobbler Union
The American brand with Spanish-made mainly Goodyear welted shoes Cobbler Union have a discount on their entire range of boots, between 25-50% off. They have both dressier lace-up boots and slightly more rugged stuff, and a lot of it is available in plenty of sizes so good chance to find something that fits.
Cheaney
Cheaney is one of the big ones of the Northampton heritage shoe manufacturers, who often run good sales on their website. This winter they have almost 100 men’s styles and 50 women’s styles part of the sale, with good discounts, some times all the way up to half the RRP.
Mr. Porter
The online menswear giant Mr. Porter has such a huge inventory of products, no wonder they need to get stuff off the shelves with regular clearances. When it comes to proper footwear you can among other things find stuff from John Lobb, Sid Mashburn, George Cleverley. A lot of the better stuff seem to be going quick though, and it’s not as much shoes as they’ve had some years, but still might be worth taking a look.
Carmina
I could almost copy the copy from the Cheaney section above, just change the first sentence, and the fact that the discount on the mainly welted men’s and women’s shoes one find from Spanish Carmina is at 25%. If you’ve had your eyes on something from this famous brand you might be lucky to find it at a discount now.
Heinrich Dinkelacker
German brand Heinrich Dinkelacker’s shoes might not be what they once were, when they for a long time were hand welted in Hungary, and focus was solely on the classic often heavy Austro-Hungarian stuff. Nowadays the shoes are Goodyear welted in Spain, and style is more mixed up, but those who like the original style still can find this, and currently a lot of it is part of the sale with discounts up to 30%.
A Fine Pair of Shoes
Shoes from among others Berwick, NPS and Tricker’s are part of the British multi-brand store A Fine Pair of Shoes winter sale. You can get welted shoes for as low as around €100 here, with some factory seconds available, which certainly isn’t common.
Barker
If we look at selection of styles that are part of the sale, few beat the British brand Barker. Almost 500 (!) styles are part of the sale. And sure, perhaps all of it isn’t top stuff, there’s a bunch of corrected grain leather shoes and more basic trainers etc, but nonetheless chance is that you can find something you are in need of here, and it’s discounted with up to half the RRP.
CNES
Vietnamese brand CNES has both hand welted, Goodyear welted and Bologna constructed shoes part of their sale, where you get 25% discount on all shoes that are part of the sale section with the code DEC25OFF, meaning you can get some pretty sweet deals here. They ship worldwide with Fedex.
Crockett & Jones
There was a time when finding a pair of Crockett & Jones shoes on sale was a rare treat. That’s now in the past. Since the big British company introduced their own online store they run sales twice a year, and many of their retailers also has followed. As often is the case a bunch of good stuff are part of it. Not the biggest of discounts, but some are up to 30% off.
Matthew Cookson
Matthew Cookson is one of all the French brands who’ve been around for a long time (once part of Shipton & Heneage, but since long its own entity) and who continue to offer nice shoes at decent prices, but a bit under the radar for most people outside the home country. On their sale you have welted as well as Blake stitched footwear of various styles, with a lot around 40% off, meaning good chances to make a nice bargain.
