One of the biggest trends (yes, we have them here as well) within the world of quality shoes is the use of sturdy rubber soles with heavy lug, like Commando or similar. The French brand Septième Largeur has launched several new shoes and boots in this style this winter.

Septième Largeur has been around for a long time by now. A French upper budget / lower midrange price brand with Spanish-made Goodyear welted footwear, who apart from a base with solid classics always have been good on being early on with what’s most popular within the realm of classic shoes. For example, they had a bunch of different double monk straps 10 years ago, and they were one of the first RTW brands to offer a shoe patina service. Lately we’ve seen these thick soled, often lug rubber sole, models become popular, and of course SL were quick on the draw.

For this winter, they have a wide range of styles with chunky rubber soles. Some double Dainite studded soles, but also a bunch of Vibram Commando heavy lug soles. Derbies, loafers, various boots – a lot of grain leather, F. Stead waxy commander (yeah I know, commander leather with commando soles, it’s okay to laugh), suedes etc. If you like this type of heavier styles, do take a look at the collection. Prices start below €300.
