To make shoes entirely by hand you need a whole lot of tools. Gathered on the picture above are all tools that Daniel Wegan of Gaziano & Girling’s bespoke department uses for the making, the actual assembly of the shoes.
Pliers, awls, hammers, edge irons, rasps, measurement tools, and so on. For those who makes shoes by hand it’s a constant hunt for tools that suits you and have the high quality that’s needed. Most tools are often old ones, since the manufacturing of specialised tools like many of these are were larger back in the days and more were built of high quality, today it’s more expensive and harder to find newly produced tools that are up to standard.
