Here’s a thorough look at a new pair I received from the Chinese maker Acme Shoemaker, a pair of MTM / semi bespoke split toe derbys with hand braided contrasting stitching. The special thing with Acme is that all their shoes are made to the same standard, from the main RTW range to the full bespoke offerings.
On Saturday May 13 it’s back – one of the world’s largest open event on quality shoes, The London Super Trunk Show, organised by Shoegazing and The Shoe Snob. In the middle of London on 12 Regent Street, we gather 11 brands from all over the world, partners exhibit, there will be the World Championships of Shoe Shining and Shoe Patina, plus the World Championships of Shoemaking have its award ceremony and competition shoes displayed, and for the first time we have a second hand shoe marketplace on site.
The Chinese premium brand Acme Shoemaker has introduced a new range of more affordable shoes. The shoes are still hand lasted, hand welted with fully hand stitched sole seams – but some simpler make means they can be offered at €900. Looks like quite a lot of bang for the buck.
The second super trunk show in Amsterdam took place earlier in October, a bunch of great shoe brands and style exhibitors was gathered in the lovely Vondelkerk – which became the church of shoes for one day. It was three years since, but the past weekend it was finally time for the Stockholm edition of the super trunk shows again. Six shoe companies and three partners exhibited, lots of shoe shining happenings including the Swedish champs, second hand marketplace and much more. Here’s a summary of the day with loads of photos.

Time for the second edition of the Amsterdam Super Trunk Show. Finally time for super trunk in Stockholm again, on Saturday 24 September. Six shoe exhibitors from different parts of the world, plus three partners exhibiting. Also featuring, among other things, Swedish Championships of Shoe Shining, spit shine shine workshop, free shoe shine service and of course Shoegazing Market – the second hand marketplace for selling and buying quality second hand shoes.
Last weekend it finally happened. The fourth edition of the London Super Trunk Show took place, a wonderful day who gathered almost 1,200 visitors from around the world, who enjoyed quality shoes in all its shapes and three world championship contests. We are very pleased to announce two new editions to the London Super Trunk Show on May 7: Acme Shoemaker, the highly praised Chinese maker of fully handmade RTW, MTO and bespoke, and the German brand Modum who aims at bringing affordable bespoke into the digital era with 3D scanning.
This year Christmas is a bit more normal here in Sweden at least, where one have the possibility to gather with close family and friends. And one thing that will always be the case is that you can wear some goodies on your feet to get your Christmas spirit up.
