Swedish brand Myrqvist launches a new collection this autumn with new rounder lasts and a bit heavier models, complementing the much neater range of shoes that has dominated for the brand earlier.
Time for a new review of my shoe collection as it looks right now. Quite a lot has happened over the last two years since I last had time to do this type of post, although the amount is the same: 23 pairs in total.
Last weekend the second edition of the world’s largest open event for classic men’s shoe took place – the London Super Trunk Show 2018. An amazing day with more than 800 people from all over the world who came to have a closer look at all exhibitors and the World Championships in both shoe shining and shoemaking. Here’s a summary in text and about hundred pictures.
We are very happy to once again invite you to the world’s largest open event for classic shoes, the London Super Trunk Show, organized by Shoegazing and The Shoe Snob. In the middle of London on Saturday April 7 we gather more than 10 brands from all over the world, interesting partners, there will be the World Championships in Shoe Shining, and the first World Championships in Shoemaking will have it’s award ceremony and competition shoes displayed. Another super trunk has passed, and once again we are very happy with the day. Over 700 people visited the event, over 100 pairs of shoes were bought for a value of about €35 000 (and many more orders placed the following days). Here’s a summary of the day in text and picture.

It’s nice to see that new interesting manufacturers are constantly appearing in the entry-level segments of classic quality shoes, and one of them is the online shop Herrstil’s own brand Myrqvist. Goodyear welted shoes with good specifications for €210. Shoegazing has tested them.
We are pleased to present this year’s edition of the Shoegazing Super Trunk Show in Stockholm Saturday September 2. This year we focus a bit more on Swedish online companies, the line-up will be Myrqvist (Herrstil), Yanko (Skolyx), The Sabot (also with Andrés Sendra, Antonio Meccariello and Yohei Fukuda), Jan Kielman and Hiro Yanagimachi. Plus Swedish Championships in Shoe Shining, shoe care workshop and an open Q&A with people from the shoe industry.
Finally it’s time for the webshop Herrstil to make their launch of its collection of Goodyear welted shoes under the brand Myrqvist. With a price tag of €200 it’s an interesting alternative in the lower price range of quality shoes.
I write a lot here on Shoegazing about how one can, and should, adapt the fit of RTW shoes in terms of various minor or major interventions so that they fit as good as possible. Here is another such tip on how to give more or less space at the instep, and the best part is that it takes a minute to fix and all you need is your shoelaces.
Every year I go through my shoe collection, as it looks at present time. A lot of lovely shades of brown, and one black model. 23 pairs in total, but several pairs will be sold of due to foot issues I have, more about that further down in the article.
