At the London Super Trunk Show back in May we had the second edition of the World Championships of Shoe Patina, where three contestants were to paint a pair of crust leather shoes during the day. These here are the winning shoes from then, painted by Toan Junie who is working for Corthay in France.
Toan created a beautiful whole, with a muted, matte sole edge and sole going over to a shinier upper with more contrasts, with details like managing to keep the edge and stitching at the toe bright for a neat transition. The shoes are from TLB Mallorca’s Artista range and were completely uncoloured before the contest, where the contestants used Saphir dye, cream and polish and had five hours to transform them.
