News – The end of Foster & Son?

The first big player in the classic shoe industry that might fall due to corona seems to be British Foster & Son. They closed their factory this summer, now they are according to unconfirmed info to close their Jermyn Street store where their bespoke workshop has been based as well. Here’s a summary of what we know and the most credible rumours.

Shoegazing Super Trunk Show 2019

Of course we’ll have a super trunk in Stockholm, Sweden, this autumn, on Saturday September 29 the sixth edition will take place. A lot of new stuff on the exhibition floor this year, CNES Shoemaker, Sons of Henrey, Zeb Shoes and Skomaker Dagestad with among others Miyagi Kogyo and Foster & Son RTW, plus the old fox Skolyx (Skolyx/Yanko/TLB Mallorca) and Gaziano & Girling. Also the Swedish Championships in Shoe Shining, a mini course on how to recolour shoes, shoe patina painting live, and the return of last year’s success Shoegazing Market  – a second hand marketplace where you can sell and buy used shoes.

The picture – Sun bleeched shoes

The British bespoke shoemaker Foster & Son is famous four their sun bleeched shoes. What started with sample shoes that had been standing in the shop window for decades and been bleeched which customers asking to buy similar shoes, has become a signum for the brand since they also started doing it in an artificial way. The shoes pictured above have all been naturally bleeched by the sun though.
