The options, and with that the interest, of Chinese made hand welted shoe brands have taken a hike lately, and many great offerings can be found. It’s also getting easier for people in Europe and the US to order, where one of them taking the lead in this race is Belgian Sons of Henrey with their collaboration with Oct. Tenth / Xibao Shoemaker.
Last weekend the first Amsterdam Super Trunk Show took place. A great day with more than 300 visitors and shoes from all over the world showcased, together with shoe care, clothing, watches and perfumes. Here’s a summary in text and lots of pics from the day. Also, briefly about the fact that the London Super Trunk Show has been postponed until October 10.
It’s a real pleasure to invite you all to the first Amsterdam Super Trunk Show. A bunch of shoe brands from all over the world, partners and other interesting menswear exhibitors, plus the first Dutch Championships in Shoe Shining, all taking place at Cristofori Concert Hall of the Playing Circle, in the central parts of Amsterdam, on Saturday March 7. What’s the main challenges when setting up a new shoe brand, how is it to be a small player working together with a big factory, and how do you succeed in today’s highly competitive market? Another super trunk is done. Last weekend’s event in Stockholm gathered around 700 visitors, about 70 pairs of shoes were sold (and many more ordered after the event) and the atmosphere was as usual great. Here is a summary of the day in text and a lot of pictures.
Of course we’ll have a super trunk in Stockholm, Sweden, this autumn, on Saturday September 29 the sixth edition will take place. A lot of new stuff on the exhibition floor this year, CNES Shoemaker, Sons of Henrey, Zeb Shoes and Skomaker Dagestad with among others Miyagi Kogyo and Foster & Son RTW, plus the old fox Skolyx (Skolyx/Yanko/TLB Mallorca) and Gaziano & Girling. Also the Swedish Championships in Shoe Shining, a mini course on how to recolour shoes, shoe patina painting live, and the return of last year’s success Shoegazing Market – a second hand marketplace where you can sell and buy used shoes.
Earlier this week the Belgian-Spanish brand Sons of Henrey was launched, focusing on elegant classic Goodyear-welted shoes, offering a variety of interesting leather choices, mainly through coming Group MTOs.
