Event – 2021 Independent Shoemakers Conference online

This weekend the annual Independent Shoemakers Conference takes place, the first edition to be held online, due to obvious reasons. The positive thing is that it makes it even more accessible for all shoemakers, and those who are interested in shoemaking. A lot of knowledge is shared in videos and seminars with shoemakers from around the world, and conference participants have a full month to view all the content. Also briefly about the fact that we have once again postponed the London Super Trunk Show, new date is Saturday October 9.

Event – Isetan Shoe Expo 2020

Today the second edition of the large shoe event Isetan Shoe Expo started at the event space in their department store in Shinjuku, Tokyo. For obvious reasons a less international event this year – still a big happening with lots of great stuff for shoe lovers.

Report from the Amsterdam Super Trunk Show 2020

Last weekend the first Amsterdam Super Trunk Show took place. A great day with more than 300 visitors and shoes from all over the world showcased, together with shoe care, clothing, watches and perfumes. Here’s a summary in text and lots of pics from the day. Another super trunk is done. Last weekend’s event in Stockholm gathered around 700 visitors, about 70 pairs of shoes were sold (and many more ordered after the event) and the atmosphere was as usual great. Here is a summary of the day in text and a lot of pictures.

Report – Isetan Shoes Expo 2019

A week ago the first edition of the Isetan Shoes Expo 2019 took place – a real shoe bonanza with all things men’s shoes. Apart from the two sessions I worked with them on – a talk about the World Championships in Shoemaking with the top trio, and the Shoe Shining Champion of Champions contest – loads of exhibitions and happenings took place. Tomorrow Saturday is the time for the big shoe competition Shoe Shining Champion of Champions at Isetan in Tokyo, where the three world champions and a Russian, Japanese and our latest Swedish champion Michael Håkansson will make up. An event that can be viewed live on YouTube, more info below.

Shoegazing Super Trunk Show 2019

Of course we’ll have a super trunk in Stockholm, Sweden, this autumn, on Saturday September 29 the sixth edition will take place. A lot of new stuff on the exhibition floor this year, CNES Shoemaker, Sons of Henrey, Zeb Shoes and Skomaker Dagestad with among others Miyagi Kogyo and Foster & Son RTW, plus the old fox Skolyx (Skolyx/Yanko/TLB Mallorca) and Gaziano & Girling. Also the Swedish Championships in Shoe Shining, a mini course on how to recolour shoes, shoe patina painting live, and the return of last year’s success Shoegazing Market – a second hand marketplace where you can sell and buy used shoes.

On the 11-16th of September the famous department store Isetan Men’s in Tokyo are hosting the first Shoe Expo, with lots of shoe happenings during several days. I’m pleased to have worked together with them on three parts, the premiere of the Shoe Shining Champions of Champions contest, where the three world champions and one Japanese champion, Swedish champion and Russian champion will battle it out in a huge competition, a seminar with the top trio in the World Championships in Shoemaking, and an exhibition with their shoes plus the world champs patina winner.

This past Saturday the Moscow Trunk Show took place, I was there exhibiting with Skolyx and as a member of the jury in the Russian shoe shining and patina contests.
